Useful information

Adaptor: Turkey uses the European two-pin plug as standard.

Currency: The Turkish lira is the accepted currency in Turkey. Euros are also widely accepted – but please note that you will often get a better exchange rate if you pay in the local currency, of Turkish lira.

Credit and debit cards are widely used in Turkey. Visa and MasterCard are accepted in most places, with American Express payment available in high-end hotels and restaurants. However, we would recommend that you take cash with you if you plan to go on any trips and want to go shopping at market stalls, for example.

Entry requirements: If travelling with a British Passport, your passport should be valid for at least 150 days from the date you arrive, and there should be a full blank page for the entry and exit stamps.

If travelling with an Irish Passport, there is a six month passport validity required from the date of entry.

If travelling on any other passport, please refer to the government website for that country.

Health: There are no vaccination requirements for travelling to Turkey, but it is recommended that you are fully vaccinated for COVID-19 before visiting. However, passengers arriving in Turkey are no longer required to present proof of vaccination status or negative PCR test results. It is also important to note that mosquitoes can be an irritation in mid-summer, and whilst Malaria is not considered a risk in the main tourist areas of the west and south-west, we would recommend bringing insect repellent. Additionally, most tap water in the larger towns and cities has been chlorinated, but bottled water is still recommended for drinking.

Time zone: Turkey will be 2 hours ahead of British Summer Time  (GMT+3).

Travel insurance: Personal travel insurance is not included in the event. Please ensure you arrange sufficient cover and bring a copy of the policy with you in case of an emergency.

Weather: In June, the average maximum temperature is 30 C and an average minimum of 20 C.
Rainfall is rare in June, with an average of 3mm. For more in-depth information, please visit gov.uk’s advice on travelling to Turkey here.
